Greetings Tiger Students and Families!

Greetings Tiger Students and Families!

My name is Ms. DeZeeuw (Ms. D for short), and I am your GHS school counselor.

A lot of you I already know through CVIT, or I may have gotten to know you and your parents/guardians if you had other siblings that were at GHS when I was here before. Yes, that’s right, I was the school counselor here at GHS three years ago. I really missed being a Tiger, so when I saw that there was an opportunity to come back, I jumped on it.

School counselors are uniquely trained to help students in three different ways:

  • Academics--this means helping you plan out your four-year high school plan to help you achieve your goals, whether that be graduating, taking as many CTE classes as you can, or being ready to attend a university. I’ll do everything I can to help you get there!

  • College/Career--we want to make sure you don’t just graduate but have a solid plan for what you want to do AFTER graduation. This means making sure you know what options you have so you can make the best decision for you!

  • Social/Emotional--we all go through things where it helps to just have someone to talk to. While some people think that counselors give advice, I try not to do so much of that. Instead, I want to help you sort through your options and decide what is best for you and then come up with a plan for how to attack it.

Whether you want to talk about college and career options, have questions about your grades, are feeling sad, anxious, lonely, or depressed, I’d be happy to help you talk it out so you can be your healthiest, happiest self!  I look forward to supporting each and every one of you through your high school career!
